On this spot stood already in 1063 a water mill, supposedly dependent on the abbey on Ename. For a long time it was both a corn - and an oil mill. There is now a small museum, the tavern and the restaurantin the mill . Explanation can be obtained on application. In 1868, the oil mill disappeared from the bldg.. The brick bldg. was raised in 1883, with two floors. The Ter Biestmolen has an important and rare drive system. The water of a bypass of the Zwalm passes through under the farm and ends up underground in the mill , where it operates two built in water wheels of the overshot type. At rebuilding works in 1987-1988, a tavern-restaurant came in the mill. The rural surroundings became, as far as the vegetation or the cultivation directly influences the visual relation with the mill, as a rural face protected.
