The county and afterwards duchy Luxembourg reached its peak in 13° and 14° centuries, when the monarchs of it, the title “emperor of saint Germanic realm” was allocated. In that era included duchy Luxembourg the medieval magnificence of Burg-Reuland. Then the castle has been probably built to withstand the devastating irruptions of the Vikings (9th century) and Hungarian (10th century). Total to fortifications has in course of the centuries modifications undergo to adapt it especially to maintaining against fire weapons (15° centuries), but in course of the 18° centuries by French troops it was devastated. At recent restorations the aspect of the medieval castle with its thick walls and impressing towers has especially repaired.
