The very first indication of the Buulmolen dates back already to 1362: “Walterus Smeyers the pecio delicate… molendium bule”. In the night of 11 July 1744 the mill burned down, but he was rebuilt in the autumn and the winter. In 1938, the mill was dismantled and was transmitted to Antwerp (Noordkasteel) because he had clear place in Olen for the construction of the Albert-canal. Because of the construction of the connection between the 5th harbor dock and the Amerikadock, he was in 1974, 400 meter further placed close the Higher Navgation school and the Royerssluis. He was left to its destiny and in 1986, dismantled. And then it happened marvellous: The mill would return to its stable! Construction and the grind-capable restoration happened in 2002, and 2003 in a skilled manner by Adriaens mill construction e.g. from Weert (Netherlands). On 1 august 2003 the returned lost son was festively inaugurated.
