The oldest part of the castle (actually the farm) of Blier was built around 1500 by the family” De Blier”, which continued there live up to half of the 19° centuries. It seems that the well-known French actor Bernard Blier comes from this family. Around 1870 Auguste Seny, heir of the family the Blier, built the `Petit Château the Blier. In 1882, the castle (as holiday house) was sold to the family Wilmart Luik.De first-born son, Charles Wilmart, goes out in the castle to live and, because he had 8 children, between 1890 and 1905 has built the `Grand Chateau. Charles Wilmart were provincial regent and burgomaster of Amonines.Four of the sons of Charles Wilmart has been shot during the first world war. He himself died, in the castle, on 18 September 1932. The other sons sold the castle of Blier in 1935 to Fernand the Ghoÿ, the President of the particular education of Belgium. The portraits which hang in the billiards room of the Grand Chateau are of Fernand the Ghoÿ and of its spouse. During the battle for the Ardennes (second world war, December 1944 - February 1945) the castle became the headquarters of the American troops: it seems that general Patton stayed some days in the castle. In 1997, the family Van Dessel has bought the castle to develop it as holiday house and improving always the quality by a lot of modernization’s . A part of the castle has been sold in 1999, to Mr.Vanderlinden who has established here the hotel - restaurant “L’ Affenage”.
