Deze voormalige waterburcht bepaalde de geschiedenis van Steenhuffel. De geschreven bronnen gaan terug tot 1250 toen de Boechouts het kasteel bewoonden. Het domein was achtereenvolgens eigendom van de families de Almaras (vanaf 1527), Micault (vanaf 1598), de Maldeghem (vanaf 1672) en de Lalaing (vanaf 1809). Met het einde van het Ancien Régime begon het verval. In 1989 werd het domein verworven door brouwerij Palm, die de nog overblijvende vleugel restaureerde en de rest in de oorspronkelijke vorm heropbouwde.

This former water citadel stipulated the history of Steenhuffel.The written sources return up to 1250 when the Boechouts the castle inhabited. With the end of the ancient regime the decline started. In 1989, the field was acquired by brewery Palm, which restored the still residual wing and rebuilt the rest in the original form .
