This former water citadel stipulated the history of Steenhuffel.The written sources return up to 1250 when the Boechouts the castle inhabited. The field was successively property of the families the Almaras (as from 1527), Micault (as from 1598), the Maldeghem (as from 1672) and the Lalaing (as from 1809). With the end of the ancient regime the decline started. In 1989, the field was acquired by brewery Palm, which restored the still residual wing and rebuilt the rest in the original form .
