In 1408 vinden we de eerste schriftelijke vermelding van een Donjon in Meldert. We kunnen dus aannemen dat deze Donjon, die zich in het dorp bevindt langs de huidige Kerkstraat, reeds bestond in de 14de eeuw. Het is een site met walgracht, die vanaf de 15de eeuw geen enkele militaire functie meer had.
Aan deze Donjon werden in 1984 conserveringswerken uitgevoerd.

In 1408 we find the first written indication of Donjon in Meldert. We can therefore assume that these Donjon, which is located in the village along the current church street, already existed in the 14° centuries. It is a site with moat, which as from the 15° centuries absolutely had no more military function.
To these Donjon in 1984 conservation works, were carried out.
