De Gempemolen heeft in de loop der eeuwen vele veranderingen ondergaan maar bleef uitstekend bewaard. De molen bleef in werking tot na de tweede wereldoorlog en is sinds 1944 geklasseerd als monument. In de loop van de volgende decennia kwam de molen echter in verval. Het molenhuis,opgetrokken uit zand-en baksteen werd recent omgevormd tot brasserie. Bij de restauratie werd de grootste zorg besteed aan de moleninstallatie.

The Gempemolen underwent a lot of changes in the course of centuries but has survived excellent. The mill remained functioning to after the second world war and since 1944 has been classified as a monument. In the course of the next decades the mill came however decaying. The mill house, built with sand brick was transformed recent to brasserie. At the restoration, main concern was spent on the mill installation.
