In 1758, the castle was bought with the manor of Gingelom by knight Jean Guillaume Arnold Surlet de Chokier. The castle came as inheritance in the hands of baron Erasme Louis Surlet the Chokier, first regent of Belgium. Since 2003 the castle field has been protected, including fence, kitchen garden with fruit wall, gazebo, baking house, greenhouse and park with hunting pavilion.
