Beside the impressive architecture of the monument you can enjoy also the spendid historical weapons collection or be horrified by the thrilling collection of torture appliances and Court objects.The historical weapon collection of the city Ghent exist for a large part from the legacy of Adolphe Neyt. This Ghent industrialist composed one of the most beautiful collections of Flanders in the nineteenth century: guns, inlaid with ivory and pearl, combat clubs... The collectie was tmoved from the Bijlokemuseum to the Gravensteen. The environment of this impressive castle forms the ideal framework for this historical weapon collection! The Court museum opened in 1922, and in 1935, was considerably extended with a collection control tools from disappeared central prison (Rasphuis) at the coupure. With these objects were also remarkable pieces from the institution for the feeble-minded for men; that was located in former days in the Geraard the Duivelsteen. The collection was completed with a number of tools of the last hangman of Ghent (1861). The collection has been subdivided now in four large topics: confinement, the feeble minded, torture and hearing and execution and punish.
