De windmolen van Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Lombeek behoudt 600 jaar zijn oorspronkelijke naam. In de afgelopen eeuw dringen twee bijnamen de oorspronkelijke naam naar de achtergrond. Met de huidige restauratie wordt ook de historische naam in eer hersteld.De oorspronkelijke naam voor de molen is Hertboommolen. De naam verwijst naar het grote open weiland waaraan de molen grenst.

Begin 20ste eeuw krijgt de windmolen een lugubere bijnaam door een reeks van inderdaad tragische gebeurtenissen. Op nieuwjaarsdag 1745, tegen de achtergrond van de Oostenrijkse Successieoorlog, overvallen latere leden van de bende van Jan De Lichte het molenhuis. Molenaar Peeter van Lierde wordt vermoord.

In het oorlogsjaar op 22 april 1917 worden bij een tweede roofmoord molenaarszus Leonia Walravens op 60 jarige leeftijd en molenaarsknecht brutaal vermoord, terwijl men geknevelde molenaar Theofiel Walravens, achterliet. Sindsdien spreekt men in de volksmond van "Tragische Molen";

In de jaren zestig worden de meeste scènes van het klassieke jeugdfeuilleton Kapitein Zeppos gedraaid op en rond de molen.

The wind mill of Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Lombeek preserve 600 years its original name. In last century press two nicknames the original name to the context. With the current restoration also the historical name is given back to the mill. The original name for the mill is Hertboom mill. The name refers to the large open pasture to which the mill borders.
Beginning 20th century gets the wind mill a sinister nickname by a range of indeed tragic events. On new year day 1745, against the background of the Austrian succession war, later members of the gang of Jan De Lichte entered the mill house. Miller Peeter van Lierde is assassinated.
In the war year on 22 April 1917 become at a second murder with robbery, miller sister Leonia Walravens at the age of 60 and the mill hand brutally assassinated, whereas they left behind the pinioned miller Theofiel Walravens. One speaks since then of the ‘tragic mill’.
In the years sixty the most of the scenes of the traditional youth serial ‘captain Zeppos’ are filmed on and around the mill.
