Around 1400 the field, where now the castle stands, was called "Ter Haghen". It was called “’t Hof ter Haghe” in 1348 and in 1447 a farmhouse ”Ter Hage” was mentioned. These two melted together in the years 1537-39. W.van Ymmerseele let there before 1569 set up a moat brick house with pigeon maisonnette, a brewery and a farm . In 1650 the field was inherited by Jehan Dorco and Camillo Dorchi. Shortly after 1650 these two lords built a court of pleasance; the actual castle. In 1754, the castle was bought by P.Serruys which it that year still renovated. In 1926 were sold a large part of the field to the real estate society N.V propriétés Arendsnest. Between 1929 and 1933 a cost school in the castle was categorized. The castle Arendsnest ( eagle nest) is private property and for this reason not free accessible.
