The castle was built for Maria Theresia Cornelia Kneiff, in 1752, and was devised by construction master Jan Pieter Van Baurscheit. Castle and park have a moved history behind the back. Thus buys in 1798 Jan, Willem Smets the manor and lets he build a tower . After a lot of owners it became, after purchase by the municipality, used to accommodate weakened children . Later, in 1925, poor families are housed in. Less then two years later it is transformed to hotel restaurant for the rich. The park was opened for public in 1928. During the second world war in the castle some classes of athenaeum were categorized. After sale to the commission of public allowance the castle has been used since 1955 as a rest home. In 1974, it is entirely classified. Now the castle is a home for young people.
