Along the baron the Gieylaan (no. 165-169) we see the stately castle Grand Noble, exactly by the border with Sint-Denijs-Westrem. This former “Goed ten Abeele” was ever in the possession of the Pieters abbey of Ghent. Them gave it in fief to a.o. the Ghent patrician Geraard the devil. The name Grand Noble emerges just in the sale certificate of 1763, when the house of plaisance is bought by knight Soenen. By means of inheritance it comes in 1802, in the possession of the family the Giey, which it inhabits still. Everything to the castle are 19° centuries, the park, the pond, the most lanes. The old country house is replaced between 1850 and 1860 by the impressing neo classicistic bldgs. Also the access gateways are then renewed. They carry the weapon shield and the significant family motto: Qui s'y frotte, s'y pique De Pinte
