Het voormalig Hoogh Huys, vermoedelijk het begin van het hedendaagse kasteel, is ontstaan op het erfgoed van een hoevecomplex, dat terug te voeren is naar het begin van de 14de eeuw. In 1749 kwam het gehele goed in het bezit van baron de Hubens, wiens zoon, Baron de Leonardts de Fill, in 1791 de zuidvleugel met kapel liet aanbouwen. Na de dood van de baron komt het goed via weduwe Wauters de Sallez in 1852 in handen van graaf de Theux de Meylandt et Montjardin. Deze graaf Barthélémy de Theux stond van 1834 tot 1840 ten tijde van Leopold I aan het hoofd van één van de jonge regeringen van de nieuwe natie. Hij gaf de aanzet tot de verbouwing van het kasteel in eclectische stijl. Zijn kleinzoon, senator graaf Georges Cornet d'Elzius de Peissant zette zijn werk voort. Het kasteel werd in 1935 verkocht aan de Paters Kruisheren uit Diest, die het op hun beurt wegens gebrek aan roepingen in 1992 verkochten aan de familie Kluijtmans. De familie Kluijtmans startte onmiddellijk met renovatiewerkzaamheden aan het kasteel en het koetshuis, dat inmiddels de naam GREVENBROEK draagt. Catharinadal 3 |

The former Hoogh Huys, supposedly the beginning of the contemporary castle, have arisen on the heritage of a farmhouse complex, which is to carry back to the beginning of the 14° centuries.
