The former Hoogh Huys, supposedly the beginning of the contemporary castle, have arisen on the heritage of a farmhouse complex, which is to carry back to the beginning of the 14° centuries. In 1749, the whole came in the possession of baron the Hubens, whose son, baron de Leonardts de Fill let build on , in 1791, the south wing with chapel. After the death of the baron it comes by means of widow Wauters de Sallez in 1852, in the hands of earl de Theux de Meylandt et Montjardin. This earl Barthélémy de Theux stood from 1834 up to 1840 at the time of Léopold I to the head of one of the young governments of the new nation. He started the rebuilding of the castle in eclectic style. Its grandson, senator earl Georges Cornet d'Elzius de Peissant continued his work. The castle in 1935, was sold to the Fathers Kruisheren Diest, who it sold off for their part because of lack of vocations in 1992, to the family Kluijtmans . The family Kluijtmans started immediately with modernization activities to the castle and the coach house, which carries meanwhile the name GREVENBROEK. Catharinadal 3 3930 Hamont-Achel (B)
