Het 17de-eeuwse kasteel van Houtem met fraai park en dreef hoorde toe aan de familie de Houtem. Maar het geheel is ouder. In 1180 werden de ridders van Ramesdonck als bewoners genoemd. Oorspronkelijk vormden de gebouwen een vierkant rond een binnenplein, alles omringd door een slotgracht. De ingangspoort voor het binnenplein, geflankeerd met twee torentjes, is omstreeks 1932 gebouwd. Het smeedijzeren hek aan de ingang van het park is afkomstig van de Brusselse Warande en werd hier ca. 1835 geplaatst. Kasteel en bijbehorende hoeve zijn nog bewoond. Ramsdonk |

The 17° centuries castle of Houtem with fancy park and lane belonged to the family de Houtem. But the whole is older. In 1180 the knights of Ramesdonck were called as occupants. Initially the bldg. formed a square around a courtyard, everything surrounded by a moat. The entrance gateway for the courtyard, flanked with two turrets, is built around 1932. The wrought iron fence to the entrance of the park are originating from the Warande of Brussels and were placed here approx. 1835. Castle and associated farm are still inhabited. |
