At this place in 1870, 1966, 1972, and 1984 unearthings, were done. From that appears that on the mite hillock rests of four construction phases has kept remained. The oldest rests are those of the octagon citadel tower (probable 12° centuries). Furthermore there are also still tracks visible of a 16° centuries construction. From the most recent archaeological research (where Carolingian earthenware was dug up) becomes clear that the 12° centuries moat tower have had a predecessor who rises certainly up to the 10th century. At a last stage (1899) all rests were leveled and the burial chapel of the family Michiels were built on top of it. This site was protected at ministerial decision of 30 April 2004
