The castle field De Helle (present castle Van Ruisbroek). The oldest references to a court or a castle with farmhouse at Ruisbroek date from the 13° and the 14° centuries. The existence of an older water motte, which should be inhabited by the lines Perwez and Stalle , formulated by Alfons Van Mieghem, have been still contestable. As the owners of The Helle influential persons are mentioned. Firstly the noble family of Aa-de Landas and afterwards the rich, of Brussels citizen family de Swaef. The manor comes twice in the hands of other famous lines. A first time in 1509 at Van Withems, better known as lords of Beersel. The field comes thereafter in 1710, in the possession of the family d'Yve. Filips Antoon d'Yve and the offspring are also Viscount of Bavay and lord of Warelles. They continue manage the castle and let it up to in 1859. Remarkable enough the oldest and largest castle of Ruisbroek has not been represented recognizable on cards of the end of 16°, 17° and the 18° centuries. Probably belonged it no longer to the status of the family d'Yve to stay on such an old and supposedly decayed water destiny. For this reason they preferred to build an entirely new castle. Documents and architectural research prove that the castle was converted as from 1730 to a striking classicistic country house with important tower or a “court of pleasance”.
