Seat of the manor Kruikenburg, initially belonging to the van Wezemaels, afterwards the families t Serclaes, de Fourneau and de Lichtervelde, until the Brothers of the Christian schools bought it in 1938. The water castle reminds to the medieval defending citadels: three wings in U-vorm established around a with broad ring-ditches surrounded courtyard, three round towers in the wings and a square entrance tower preceding by a brick bridge on round arches. To the pointed arch-form passage the signs of the drawbridge and fence are still clearly perceptible. The surroundings of the castle and the lane, which links the water castle with the Gertrudis church, have been protected as landscape.
