Een prachtig gerestaureerde watermolen in het Maasbekken is de voorste Luysmolen, op de Abeek in het natuurgebied Stamprooyerbroek tussen Bocholt en Bree. Dit beschermde monument werd door de VLM aangekocht in het kader van een landinrichtingsproject en opnieuw maalvaardig gemaakt. De VMM nam de bouw van het stuwwerk aan de molen op zich. Ze legde ook een vistrap aan op de Abeek, waarlangs de vissen vrij kunnen passeren. Ook de bijbehorende hoeve werd gerestaureerd en doet nu dienst als natuurwachterswoning. De stallin­ gen werden omgebouwd tot een natuureducatief centrum bij het natuurgebied ‘De Luysen’. De volledige site werd opgefrist en heraangelegd

A water mill in the Meuse basin, restored splendidly , is the first Luysmill, on the Abeek in the nature area Stamprooyerbroek between Bocholt and Bree. This protected monument was bought by the VLM within the framework of a country institution project and made capable to grind again. The VMM took in itself the construction of the dam work to the mill . They developed also a fish staircase on the Abeek, where the fish can pass along . Also the associated farm was restored and now does service as a nature guard house. The stables were converted to nature-educational centre at the nature area ‘De Luysen’. The complete site was freshened up and reconstructed
