Of the domain, on which the castle is now lain, was already talked in 1406. It was called then "Goed te Kerkhove” or Ten Ouden Kerkhove. The name Mussenborch is for the first time mentioned on the oldest document kept in the private-archives of Mussenburg. This document, a alderman letter of Antwerp which dates of 2 April 1476, situate Mussenburg in Hove and not in Edegem. After a complete demolition of Mussenburg in 1585,the house was rebuilt in 1625.
