Approx.. 1300 a reinforced brick donjon is mentioned. In 1358 the indication "den Hove van Oostkerke" is mentioned in the archives. End of the 14° centuries comes there a trapezium-shaped "court" with 2 entrance towers + pigeontower and "Main court". Both "courts" had been surrounded by ditches. By seizure, pillage and fires between the 16th century and end WW. l remain now only still foundations and wall areas of circumvallation walls, towers and castle. In 1922 reconstruction, by the family Vander Borght. Baron Joseph van der Elst did in 1938, a thorough and succeeded rebuilding . The ditches were again dug out, the stone access bridge repaired and rebuilding of the western wing by an elegant bldg. in Renaissance style. Also former foundations of the ring wall and donjons were raised and serve as a decoration and foothpath in the reconstructed gardens.
