Dit uitzonderlijke domein van 28 hectare strekt zich uit op de plaats van de vroegere abdij van de Prémontrés van Heylissem, die werd gesticht in 1129. Men kan er nu een kasteel uit de 18e eeuw bewonderen,dat werd gebouwd in neoklassieke stijl. Het provinciaal domein van Hélécine heeft vandaag een dubbele roeping :economisch en toeristisch. Het oude kasteel van de monniken is verbouwd tot een ruimte voor seminaries en recepties. Het kasteelpark is toegankelijk voor het publiek. Het omvat een natuurreservaat van 4 hectare, een ijskelder uit de 19e eeuw en een reusachtige zonnewijzer die enig is in België.

This exceptional field of 28 hectares stretches himself from at the place of the former abbey of the Prémontrés of Heylissem, which was founded in 1129. One can admire there now a castle from the 18th century, which was built in neoclassical style. The provincial field of Hélécine has today a double vocation: economically and tourist. The old castle of the monks is rebuilt to a space for seminars en receptions. The castle park is accessible for public. It includes a greenbelt of 4 hectares,an icehouse from the 19th century and a giant sundial which is only in Belgium. |
