The impressive esplanade where still the ruin of the castle stands, sticking out above the borough touristic Rochefort, call the memory more to a lake than a rough Germanic principality. This fort from the 11° centuries has given lodging to famous families, such as the Montaigu's or the la Marcks. Nowadays this feudal area is open for tourism. By means of declared walks among the vestiges of the castle you can examine the tracks of excavations, the archaeological museum and watch also the evidence of medieval and modern times.
