Het kasteel van Solre-sur-Sambre vormt een grote vierhoek. De toegang tot het domein gebeurt via de donjonpoort die zich midden in de zuidflank bevindt. De hoeken zijn door vier ronde torens versterkt. In de loop van de tijd hebben andere gebouwen de plaats van de hoenderhof tegen de courtines ingenomen.

Volgens een aantal historici dateert de donjonpoort uit de tweede helft van de 13^de eeuw, volgens andere uit de 14^de eeuw en nog andere uit de 15^de eeuw.

• 13de eeuw
• Bouw van de burcht. De poortdonjon dateert uit die tijd.
• 15de eeuw
• Aanpassing en verhoging ven de zuidelijke voortorens op machicoulis.
• Bouw van de verschillende woongebouwen.
• 19de eeuw
• Aanleg van een koetshuis op de plek van een oud woongebouw en van de stallen.
• Heropbouw van de noordelijke courtine in de vorm van een gewone afsluitingsmuur

Het kasteel is niet te bezoeken

The castle of Solre-sur-Sambre form a large quadrangle. The access to the field happens by means of the donjon port which is in the middle of the south flank. The angles have been reinforced by four round towers. In the course of the time other bldg. have taken the place of the farmyard against the courtines. According to a number of historians the donjonpoort date from second half of the 13° centuries , according to other from the 14° centuries and still other from the 15° centuries.

• 13° centuries:
• Construction of the citadel. The port donjon date from that time.
• 15° centuries:
• Adaptation and increase of the Southern front towers on machicolation.
• Construction of the different dwellings.
• 19° centuries:
• Construction of coach house on the spot of old building and of the stables.Construction of the northern courtine in the form of an ordinary locking wall.
