De legende vertelt dat Sint-Alena, dochter van de Frankische vorst Levold, hier einde 7^de eeuw woonde. Van de vijf torens van de oorspronkelijke stenen waterburcht uit de 14^de eeuw rest alleen nog deze Sint-Alenatoren.. Eén van de eerste bewoners is de familie de Heetvelde. Na de brand van 1695 wordt het kasteel heropgebouwd door de familie Malo. In 1804 koopt baron Jean-Bernard de Viron het kasteel. Zijn zoon Guillaume laat de stallen optrekken in neogotische stijl.

The legend tells that Sint-Alena,daughter of the Frankish king Levold,lived here end 7th century. Of the five towers of the original stone water citadel from the 14° centuries rest only this Alena tower . One of the first occupants is the family the Heetvelde. After the fire of 1695 the castle becomes rebuilt by the family Malo. In 1804, baron Jean-Bernard buys the Viron the castle. His son Guillaume let build the stables in neo-gothic style.
