Het huidig molenhuis dateert uit 1775 en is samen met het 20ste eeuwse woonhuis onder één zadeldak verenigd. Alhoewel reeds sinds 1973 buiten werking is de molen nog steeds maalvaardig en maakt ze deel uit van het Vlaams industrieel erfgoed. Technisch gezien is de Wellenmolen een graanwatermolen van het onderslagtype met een molenrad van 5 meter doosnede. Bij één omwenteling (ca. 6 seconden bij normaal debiet) van het molenwiel draait de molensteen twaalf keer rond. De Wellenmolen is uitgerust met twee koppels stenen.

The current mill house dates from 1775 and with the 20th century dwelling house under one saddle roof has been united. Although since 1973 out of order, the mill has already been still capable to grind and is part of the Flemish industrial heritage. The Wellenmolen it is seen technically a grain water mill of the undershot type with a mill wheel of 5 meters profile. At one rotation (approx. 6 seconds at normal flow) of the mill wheel the millstone turns twelve times around . The Wellenmolen have equipped with two pairs of millstones.
